Free the Wall Street Journal One

Nothing to do with writing, nothing to do with Scannell … but sometimes we all need to let off steam.

Why are the pinko-leftie bleeding heart liberal columnists so critical of Tom Perkins, the American billionaire venture capitalist whose letter to the Wall Street Journal so movingly compares the plight of the 1% richest US citizens, under attack by their government, with that of the Jewish victims of the Holocaust? (http://ind.pn/1f3EPTo)

Have they not seen the desperate queues of sad-eyed, wealthy children, in little coats with velvet collars, waiting outside Kensington’s chi-chi little prep schools for the Kindergarten trains that are their only hope for safety in Milan or Geneva?

Have they missed the £ signs daubed on the windows of Harrods, Fortnum and Mason and the bespoke tailors of Savile Row, and the rich customers dragged outside by goose-stepping hard-faced liberal storm troopers and forced to lick the pavement clean?

Are they deaf to the rumble of the sinister, windowless trains as they transport their cargo of hedge fund managers, oligarchs, derivatives traders and Ferrari-owners to the sinister camps of Eastern Europe?

And, when the evidence of the piles of abandoned Gucci loafers left behind in the camps is finally presented to them, will they deny that this latest Holocaust actually took place?

Was it not Bill Gates who said, ”First they came for the Europhobes, and I did not speak out, because I was not a Europhobe. Then they came for the financial conmen and fraudsters and I did not speak out, because I am not a conman or a fraudster. Then they came for the 1% richest people, and I did not speak out, because I frankly couldn’t care less. So when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out.”

Well, maybe it wasn’t Bill Gates who said that, or something like it. And maybe these lefty columnists didn’t see all those things. Which would explain why they think Perkins’s self-pitying whinge is such a bad joke. Can there really be anything more vile than a man who has some $8 billion in the bank comparing himself to a victim of the Holocaust?

If there is, I hope I never read it.
